Description
In this painting Damien and Yilpi use traditional iconography and dot work to tell the stories of their Country at Papunya. Although traditional in form, this is a blend of Men and Women's Dreamings which is uncommon in Aboriginal art to mix onto one canvas.
Damien was born at Haasts Bluff in 1967 and Yilpi in Ernabella in 1969. Damien's family relocated to Papunya where he was taught to paint by established artists such as Billy Stockman and his uncle Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri. Yilpi's mother - famous artist, Tjulkiwa Atira-Atira taught her the Dreamtime stories along with her grandparents.
