Description
Daisybell Kulyuru was born in Ernabella in 1971. When she finished school she painted canvas and batik, and she won a prize for batik painting. She worked at Ernabella school as an Aboriginal Education Worker. Daisybell likes to paint bushtucker, and traditional imagery. She moved to Adelaide last year with her two children.
Daisybell has a distinct style that sees her apply thick quantities of paint to the canvas in bright, vibrant colours. In this painting Daisybell is describing 'Walka', which can be interpreted as any kind of marking and pattern important to Diasybell and her people. Often this can be related to a cave drawing, sand pattern or body paint design, and in this case it is 'walka' associated with Tjulpuntjulpunpa, or wildflowers from the bush.
