Description
Judy was born circa 1935 at Yarungkariji, Mt. Doreen Station in the Northern Territory and lived a traditional, nomadic life along with other Warlpiri and central desert people.
Judy lived for long periods of time at Mina Mina and Yingipurlangu, her ancestral country on the border of the Tanami and Gibson Desert (far west of Yuendumu) and was taught the skill of painting by her elder sister Maggie Napangardi Watson.
The land around this area is rich in bush tucker such as Bush Plums, Bush Tomatoes and Sand Goanna. Judy still goes hunting in the country west of Yuendumu.
