Description
Anna commenced painting in the early 1980s and depicts the Bush Yam Seeds, which are the dreamings of her grandfather and father’s country.
Anna resides at Mulga Bore, an outstation at Utopia, approximately 220 kilometers from Alice Springs. She lives near the general store with her husband, Colin Price and their three children. She is also a grandmother, with five grandchildren. Anna’s mother is Glory Ngale, a well-respected batik artist.
The yam plant is one of the most reliable sources of food found in Anna’s country. The yam is most abundant after the rain when the root system is at its most prolific stage of regeneration.
Anna’s paintings of the Bush Yam Seeds often have a great sense of movement and depth that is created by her compositions and use of colour and tone.
Anna also paints women’s body paint designs and women’s ceremonial stories. Anna’s paintings have been included in numerous exhibitions both in Australia and overseas.
