Description
Sarrita King was born in Adelaide on March 5th 1988. She spent most of her youth in Darwin, where her Mother still resides. Sarrita’s father, William King, was from the Gurindji tribe, in the Northern Territory. Most of his family still lives in the Northern Territory, specifically Katherine.
One of Sarrita's newest directional pieces, "Waterholes" represents the intricate underground water system, found throughout central Australia. These paintings seek to capture the movement of this life-giving element towards the Waterholes from which water can then be collected. Sarrita listened to her father explain the importance of water to the Aboriginal culture and all human kind. Sarrita feels the elements are a connection to her father and the world around her.
