Description
Nancy Gibson Napanangka is a Pintupi/Warlpiri woman, born c. 1932 at ‘Lappi Lappi’ in the area of Lake Hazlet, 90km north-west of Lake Mackay in the Tanami Desert, NT. She resides in an area known as ‘Nyirripi’, approximately 500kms west of Alice Springs.
Nancy began painting in the early 1980’s. She paints traditional stories associated with her country, reflecting upon the various food sources, or uses of the natural flora in the area such as the Dogwood tree – a species of acacia that grows along the creek beds.
Nancy is a unique and highly talented artists - her style is absolutely captivating.
