Tali Tali - Sandhills

Tali Tali is a Pintupi word for sandhills. To depict sandhills in an artwork is important to many Aboriginal artists. It is their representation of the ever-changing harsh Australian landscape as the Tali Tali constantly shift due to desert rain, drought and other seasonal changes. This ties in with Aboriginal artistsʼ Dreaming stories of ʻMy Countryʼ as they depict the sandhills that are located around specific areas of their Country. The Tali Tali is

often represented by a series of dotted lines or linear patterns.
