Dolly Mills Petyarre was born in about 1934 at Boundary Bore Outstation in the Utopia region, Northern Territory. She is the full sister to acclaimed artist Greeny Purvis Petyarre and is widely recognised as one of Australia's leading aboriginal artists.
Dolly depicts Yam Dreaming and Emu Tucker in her paintings. The yam is one of the most stable types of bush tucker gathered in the Utopia region. The yam has a complex root system that can spread up to ten meters from its stalk. The plant has bright green leaves and yellow flowers and branches out over a large area. It is commonly found in woodland areas and close to a water source.
