Lanita was born in 1979 and attended school in Kormilda College in Darwin, Northern Territory. Lanita is one of six sisters and two brothers. Her mother, Barbara Price, is also an artist and is from Stirling Station, located near Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
Lanita has several Dreaming stories from her family and passes them down to her nieces and nephews. Lanita lives in Darwin with her two sisters, Jacinta and Louise Numina, who are also well-renowned artists.
