The bush plum is a stable bush food source gathered by Aboriginal women. Ceremonies are performed to celebrate and pay homage to the plum, as well as to promote the growth of the plum plants. These ceremonies are joyous occasions involving body painting, song and dance.

To represent the bush plums, Josie uses a lightly loaded, fine paintbrush to work the many layers of colourful dots onto the canvas or linen. Through blending, the dots create an effect of flowering plants, scattered seeds of the plum, and the landscape after the heavy rain season.
