As a young girl, Marie observed her mother’s painting skills and techniques from which she then developed her own artistic style. Marie's paintings represent Awelye - Women's Ceremony and Body Paint Design, ‘Yerrampe’ - Honey Ant, and a variety of Bush Food Gathering stories including wild berries, edible mistletoe, bush orange, quandong and bush tomato.
Marie’s style is very refined; each painting is executed with careful attention to detail, intricate dot work and rich colour. Marie tells the story of where to collect these bush foods as locating food in the vast desert of Australia is an important and difficult part of the Aboriginal culture.
