Louise also paints aspects of ‘Awelye’ or women’s business, such as ceremonial body paint designs and images associated with women’s rituals, as well as jukurrpa or dreaming stories related to ‘Anemangkerr’ or bush tomato/melon, water soakage sites, and spinifex grass. Jukurrpa stories have complex cultural meanings and are an important source of inspiration, knowledge and unchallengeable sacred authority in Aboriginal Australia, while also seamlessly connecting past and present.
