Mary paints stories associated with the Bush Damper Seed, which is her family’s totem.

The Damper Seed is crushed up into a fine powder and brewed in to a tea, to relive various ailments. The damper seed is also ground up into a fine powder by using grinding stones, then water is added and kneaded into dough. The dough is then cooked over an open fire to make traditional bread known as ‘damper’.
