Debra McDonald Nangala is a Pintupi woman from the Papunya area located west of Alice Springs. Debra comes from a lineage of exceptional artists. She is the Granddaughter of the late, famous, Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi. Most of the subject material of Debra’s paintings come from her grandfather’s lineage as she keeps the ancient stories alive as part of the new generation of artists working in the Pintupi tradition.

Her paintings have been documented in Geoffrey & James Bardon’s book “Papunya A Place Made After the Story. The Beginning of the Western Desert Painting Movement”
