Dulcie paints the Wild Yam Flower Dreaming, referencing the beautiful flower that blooms only in particular seasons. Dulcie depicts the Wild Yam Flower with the iconic ‘leafing’ technique shared by her family. She has a particularly delicate style in which she meticulously applies the colours to represent the flower.

Bush yams are an important food source in traditional Aboriginal culture of the Utopia region and are one of the few vegetables that can be found in the arid conditions of Central Australia. So not only is the bush yam a necessity for Dulcie, but it is also a highly celebrated family totem.

This painting is currently stretched and hanging in the gallery.
