Freda Price Petyarre (also spelled Pitjara) is an Anmatyerre woman from the Boundary Bore area of the former Utopia Station, located approximately 300km north east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Freda emerges from a family of talented artists, including her mother, well-known Utopian artist, Anna Price, her sister, Delvine Pitjara, and grand-aunty, the internationally acclaimed artist, Emily Kame Kngwarreye.

Freda predominantly paints ‘Anaty’ or Bush Yam Dreamings; a totem she inherited from her mother and grandmother. As a staple bush food gathered by women, traditional ceremonies are often performed to celebrate the importance of the bush yam, as well as to promote the plant’s growth.
