Jeannie Pitjara (Petyarre) was born in c1951 at Utopia, Northern Territory, and is the sister of respected artist Rosemary Pitjara (Petyarre) and her cousins are Gloria, Kathleen and Ada Bird Petyarre. All of Jeannie’s Dreamtime stories come from the Alhalkere country and are passed down to her from her father’s side. Jeannie paints the Yam Seed, Yam Leaf, Yam Flower Dreamings, Body Paint, Mountain Devil Lizard and Bush Medicine Leaf. Jeannie’s tribal name is “Angiltha” which means little lizard.
