Patricia is also well known for her 'Bush Yam' and 'Bush Seed' works. Pronounced ung-kiy-ah in Anmatyerre language, the bush yam features creeping stems, an underground network of roots and tubers, and a large pink or yellow flower after the summer rain. Patricia draws inspiration from the shape and colour of the plant and its flower in her compositions, while the yam seeds are represented by small, delicate dots. As a staple bush food gathered by women, traditional ceremonies are often performed to celebrate the importance of the bush yam, as well as to promote the plant's growth.
