Jeannie is an Anmatyerre woman from the Utopia Region. Born around 1957, Jeannie comes from a well-known family of painters “ including Greeny Purvis Petyarre and her cousins Gloria Petyarre and Kathleen Petyarre.

Jeannie's paintings depict her totem Bush Yam for which she is one of the custodians within her culture. Bush yam vegetables grow beneath the earth, the leaf-like patterns shown in the painting depict the yam flower above the ground. A continuing line of dots represents the seeds of the yam and pays homage to the Country of the Yam.
