Yalti is recognised for painting Dreaming stories associated with a rockhole and soakage site called Marrapinti, located west of Kiwirrkurra. During the Dreamtime period, or creation period, Marrapinti was a sacred ceremonial site in which a large group of women gathered at during their travels. It was here that the women made ‘nose bones’ – an ornamental bone worn through the nose’s septum. Nose bones are also known as ‘Marrapinti’ in the Pintupi language group. Once the ceremony concluded at Marrapinti, the women continued their travels eastward to Lake Mackay.
