Charmaine Pwerle was born in 1975 in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. The daughter of established artist, Barbara Weir, the niece of Betty Club Mbitjana, and the granddaughter of the famous Minnie Pwerle, Charmaine emerges from a family of talented Central Desert artists.

Chamaine is best known for her vibrant interpretations of ‘‘Awelye’ or Women’s Ceremony. In traditional Indigenous practice, both men and women use natural pigments such as ochre and charcoal to paint and prepare their chest, arms and thighs for ceremony.
