Mavis paints two main stories, ‘Women’s Ceremony’ and ‘Tali Tali’. The story she most commonly depicts is ‘Tali Tali’ (sandhills). In this story Mavis focuses on depicting the ever-changing nature of the landscape and the sandhills. Through the strategic use of colour, design and repetition, Mavis paints the ‘tali tali’ that constantly shift due to the effects of desert rain and drought.
