The Flying Ant is also known as termites that build large anthills found throughout Warlpiri Country. When the heavy rains come during the summer months, the water floods out the termite mounds, forcing the termites to fly off and make new homes. The Aboriginal people collect the termites and lightly cook them as they are a sweet tasting delicacy.
