Sean is known as ‘Bundjalung Sean’ and his family comes from the far northern NSW, Ballina and Cabbage Tree Island. He has been painting since the age of 15 years, when he was first inspired to paint the dreaming of his mother. Sean’s mother Aunty Ponnie Cook (Yvonne Del-Signore) was a highly respected Elder of the Ballina and Cabbage Tree Islander communities, she passed down to Sean many stories of the Bundjalung people, including the language and laws of their community.
