This is Yarring Country in Darrajayn (Springvale Station), which is close to the south of Warmun (Turkey Creek). During the Dreamtime, Karngin (the moon) was a man. One day, Karngin returned from hunting and saw a girl sitting with her mother. She was very beautiful with long black hair and he fell in love with her. The girl was named Darwool, the black headed snake. Due to Aboriginal law, she was his mother-in-law and so he was not allowed to marry her.

The people in the community asked him who he would like for his wife, in which he responded "Darwool". The people rejected his request saying that she is his mother-in-law, and he must marry one of the promised girls - Darwool's daughters. The people told him to go away.

Hurt and angry, Karngin walked a long way before he sat down and turned to a hill. He cursed the people, telling them that they were going to die, but he would always live. As the moon, Karngin comes back to life every month and visits his beloved Darwool who is the star.

This is a highly textural black and white orchre artwork.
