The Desert Fringe-Rush is a grass with an edible seed. The seeds are traditionally ground on a large stone with a small stone to make flour. This flour is mixed with water to make damper cakes, which are cooked and eaten.
Large concentric circles are often used to depict the sites of where this story takes place in Jaralypari, and also the seed bearing grass. 'U' shapes depict the women collecting the seed, and straight lines are typically used to portray seeds that fall down to the ground and are then collected by women using coolamons and digging sticks.
This artwork is stretched and currently hanging in the gallery.
