Julie is the daughter of Dorothy Napangardi - one of Australia's most successful and highly regarded indigenous artists.
This story takes place at a site called Puyurru, located west of Yuendumu. In the usually dry creek beds are soakges, also known as naturally occurring water wells. During the ancestral time, two rainmakers sang in the rains and unleashed a giant storm. The storm traveled across the country forming the land as it traveled.
This painting depicts the soakage site as well as the flood waters.
